Hello! The end of March means we are wrapping up the hot summer in South Africa and heading into the best season- autumn! The rains are coming and the leaves are tipped with orange. Among it all, we are excited for the work in trauma-informed care. I have had a busy month building curriculum and counseling. In April, we have several trainings planned, and I am so excited! I also have been working hard to wrap up my coursework for my master’s program. I am getting close to the end, which means the assignments are getting more complicated. I am ready to put the life phase of a working student behind me! In the meantime, here are a few snapshots of our life. Thank you for all you do in prayer, financial support, and friendship to keep Courageous Care going!
In late February, I got to lead our online course in trauma care. This was such a good experience to have community members across Cape Town learn together.
I love watching children learn! This is the grade 4 class playing a game about proper nouns. This year I am coaching the new teachers at Trinity Children’s Centre. Their commitment to bringing the gospel to the children and teaching with integrity is why I love teaching here!
I love playing games and seeing beautiful smiles! Growing up in Mitchells Plain can be challenging, but the answer is still love, connection, and play!
Making a flower reminds us that growing up is hard work and we must learn to care for ourselves and others. Don’t worry we added a lot of glitter before we were finished!
The grade 6s did country projects this month! I did not teach this lesson, but finding my home country hanging in the stairwell was fun!
As the summer has ended, Venesch and I have been going on more hikes in the surrounding mountains. I am always amazed by God’s amazing creation!
