Hello again from Cape Town! It has been a while since I have been in your inbox. This last season of life has been particularly difficult as I tested positive for Covid and then began a long journey through illness, uncommon symptoms, and difficult recovery.
Even though I am no longer sick, my body is taking a long time to recover. This has been difficult as two of my most concerning symptoms were brain fog and memory loss. While the intensity has passed, I am still struggling with both of these and that can be frustrating and scary.
During this time I have had to take an alternate work schedule, so I don’t have as many pictures to share this month. But I have started back to work and I have been scheduling more training and coaching. I am missing my kiddos though! They are now on winter holiday so I look forward to connecting with them in the next semester.
Thank you for all the kind messages and prayers during this time!
Love, Autumn
One of our first training days back was with a group of adopted parents. It was an amazing experience for Venesch to share part of his story as an adoptee.
In May, I started my practicum for my master’s degree in marriage and family counseling. I am working for an amazing organization called Zoe Project which works with pregnant and new moms. I am on their counseling team and have learned so much from their experience! I will also be training them in trauma care in the next few months. This is such a mutually beneficial partnership! Every woman who graduates from their classes or counseling gets their picture taken in front of their butterfly wall!
I wasn’t able to do my normal meetings with kids and teachers at TCC while I was recovering, but I did get to visit a few times to check on paperwork and schedules and this day I set down to eat at these kiddos’ playdoh restaurant! It was delicious and I invite all of you to visit as soon as possible!
So glad to hear you're gradually feeling more like yourself, friend. We've been praying for y'all!
