Venesch and I landed in Cape Town last month after spending time with family and friends in Texas. It was such a joy to experience Christmas with my big, boisterous family, and introduce Venesch to the many American traditions. Now we are back and getting to work.
On our flight home, we had a long layover in DC where we visited the Lincoln Memorial and the Smithsonian Museums.
I’m so glad to be back at Trinity Children’s Centre. This year, I am counseling a few students (not these cute girls) and coaching the teachers in trauma-informed classrooms.
The school has a few new teachers and I have loved supporting them and teaching them! Here we are playing a team game about communication with legos!
We have started Courage to Change! This program, in honor of the life of Sarah Nelson, is to support young moms with education and empowerment. One of the biggest needs for that is a meal. These three women are breastfeeding moms, who thanks to our supporters are receiving 10 meals a week! Here they are watching a video about parenting values.
This is the porridge we are giving out. It is made with fiber, protein, and healthy fats to be a complete meal. We have 12 mommies and 3 babies that we are feeding!
We are almost done with our first Antenatal Class of the year! 14 women learning about healthy pregnancy, birth empowerment, and support in taking baby home. This day was when the doula, Fazlin, came to give the lesson on labour.
Courageous Care has a new partner! This is us teaching at Acres of Love, an organization of foster moms working with children in longterm care. They have dedicated the year to learning about trauma-informed discipline which will impact more than 144 children!
Our godchildren are growing so much! We try to influence them to love reading by bringing books whenever we can!
Thank you so much for your prayers and support! If I could ask for a personal prayer, as many of you know I have long struggled with my health. Since I have been back I have been battling viruses and migraines. Would you please pray for healing so I can get back to my kiddos!
Thank you for devoting your life to help others and taking us along for the ride.
Praying, friend! I miss you, especially on my way into Groovy when I automatically look to see if you're there. 🍄
